Coach George Guo
New Zealand Chin Woo Athletic Association Auckland Branch President, Seventh degree (duanwei) Chinese martial arts Coach George Guo was born in the Hu Nan province of China. A graduate of Tianjin Institute of Physical Education, Coach Guo was a professional athelete and trained with Tian Jin's Wushu team. Coach Guo is a Wu Ying grade sportsman and a first grade judge in China.
In his early years, Coach Guo represented China in Wushu exchanges to Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, and Korea, just to name a few. He was later appointed assistant coach of Tian Jin's Wushu team and head coach of Chinwoo Tianjin, guest coach of Chinwoo Selangor (Malaysia), head coach of Chinwoo Western Australia and is currently the head coach of Chinwoo New Zealand.
Coach Guo started Wushu at the age of 8 under Masters Li Long Shan, Ji Wen Biao, Sun Jian Ping and several others. He then joined Tianjin's Wushu team and started his professional career as a martial arts sportsman. Coach Guo then trained under Master Pan Qing Fu, one of China's four legendary martial artists. Master Pan's strict training, combined with Coach Guo's self-discipline and ten years of hard work, saw him clinching numerous medals at the China Nationals. From the time Coach Guo started his career in the eighties as a freshman, he has nurtured a vast number of students, many of whom have gone far in their own achievements in Wushu; some have even set up their own schools.
Coach Guo's enthusiasm in promoting the art of Wushu has inspired many, students and non-followers alike.
